Case Synopsis:
Crofton, Nebraska: Workers have been reported as missing over the last 4 weeks, as renovations started at the The Devil's Nest off of Lewis & Clark Lake near Crofton, Nebraska. Once a fancy Ski Resort, it was shut down a couple decades ago. Now purchased by new property owners, a full scale renovation of the area has started in hopes of turning the place into an upscale private residential recreational destination. Worker crews have left the job site for forgone their contracts in protest and out of fear for their own lives. Much in part due to their co-workers not being found, but a new company and new crews have bid in and will resume the work in two weeks. Although the authorities have looked over the area for the 3 missing individuals, they have not been found. The old resort consists of a ski lift, several horse trails, several old and condemned buildings, a main lake house, as well as several residential homes on the far outskirt of the area.
After listening to the rest of the group talk about burning down a whole mountain side Carter and Mina decide to set off on their own to take care of the Wendigo in a much less public way. Carter formulates a plan to “Hocus Pocus” the Wendigo. Carter’s plan involves setting “bait” for the Wendigo and luring him to an abandoned machine shed in a remote location of the resort, lock him in the shed, and burn the damn thing to the ground. Then once that is done we can search for the missing people.
Mina and Carter find an abandon shed that will be perfect for this plan. The shed is locked up so Mina attempts to pick the lock breaking her lock pick in the process. Luckily, Carter has a spar and is able to get the lock open. It has two big sliding doors in the front and a small door leading out the back. Inside they find an old tractor that they plan to move in front of the door just enough so one of them can slip through and escape the Wendigo but too small for him to follow. It is decided that they will need 20 gallons of gas but due to a Wendigo’s acute sense of smell they need something to cover the smell of the gas so the Wendigo won’t know it’s being lead into a trap. Poo!! That’s what we can use!
Mina and Carter find a small farm and make a deal with Farmer Jo to rent an old pickup truck and fill the back of it with manure. Mina then goes into town and buys 2 flare guns with 3 extra loads each, 20 gallons of gas, and some oil. When she gets back to the shed Tony and Marcus have shown up and is reviewing the plan with Carter, shortly after the rest of the group shows up and is willing to assist with the plan Mina and Carter have put into place.
So order of operations is Tony will go into the woods covering himself in blood, donated from Mina and Carter, to act as bait for the Wendigo. Tony will run back to the shed, hopefully the Wendigo will follow, and sneak out the back door. Carter and Marcus will have the flare guns and rounds and will fire shots into the shed once the Wendigo is inside. Mina and Connie will then close the doors and lock them. Once the Wendigo is trapped and dead Cal and Gator can search the woods for any survivors.
The sun is setting and Tony sets off to become bait. Carter, Mina, Connie, and Marcus have covered themselves in poo to mask their sent from the Wendigo and are hiding near the shed waiting for their turn in the plan. Gator and Cal are hiding a little farther away. Tony, while having his own “Carrie” movie moment, hears a man cry out, “help I’m injured”, “Is anyone out there”, “Please Help!”. Tony stays quiet for a while, remembering that the Wendigo have exceptional ability to mimic humans. The man keeps crying out, finally Tony responds with “too bad mother fucker, nobody’s here”. Tony keeps walking towards the shed and the man’s cries for help get louder. Marcus hears the man as well, but decides to remain in his hiding spot for fear that it is a trick by the Wendigo. Tony, getting a little concerned now is speed walking and spraying the blood everywhere. Marcus, unable to stand by while a possible innocent cries out for help leaves his hiding spot and runs into the woods towards the cries for help. Once in the woods Marcus is surprised by the Wendigo who tries to tackle him to the ground. Marcus is able to tumble and roll out of the grasp of the Wendigo just in time. The Wendigo is big, standing about 15 feet tall and has a massive arm reach. The things is fast too, Really fast.
Marcus starts running towards the shed, he knows he must keep with the plan and get the Wendigo to the shed. The Wendigo jumps into the trees and then it is silent. Marcus cannot hear any sign of the Wendigo, except for an occasional slight rustling of the leaves. Suddenly, the Wendigo jumps down from the trees, grabs Marcus and throws him through a good sized tree limb. Marcus is hurt but manages to tumble and roll while keeping ahold of both his guns! Tony hears the commotion and begins running towards Marcus and the Wendigo. Marcus attempts to tumble past the Wendigo but he is too fast and slashes Marcus’s left arm. Marcus continues on his way and hauls ass towards the shed, the Wendigo close behind. Marcus is then struck in the back of the head by the Wendigo’s sharp claws. Marcus is dazed but keeps on running. Just as Tony meets up with Marcus and the Wendigo he sees Marcus het slashed again, which brings Marcus to the ground and renders him unconscious.
Tony runs towards the Wendigo, grabs the road flare, and lights it. Tony plans to attack the Wendigo with the flare but, unfortunately in the process Tony hits a branch with the flare and extinguishes the fire. The Wendigo takes this opportunity to attack Tony and wrestles him to the ground. Tony grabs his gun jabs it into the side chest of the Wendigo and fires! The ignition form the gun burns the Wendigo and causes him to pull back due to the pain, and a little shock. Wendigo is pissed and attacks Tony, Clawing and biting.
Due to the time that has passes Carter is worried that our 2 other heroes maybe unconscious or dead and unable to complete the plan. Carter runs to the woods towards the commotion, cuts his hand, and yells “you want some fuckin’ dinner?!?!” Then Silence…..Carter runs for the shed wiping his blood on the trees as he goes. Suddenly Carter hears Tony’s voice calling out “He’s coming this way help”. Carter stays quiet knowing this is probably the Wendigo. Toney’s voice again yells “damn it come help me you slack jawed fagot!” Connor responds “that is just uncalled for” and continues to run towards the shed.
Back towards the shed Gator is getting antsy and goes out to find Tony, Marcus , and Carter. Gator is suddenly attacked and is hit in the right hand. Gator runs towards the shed now taking on the role of bait. While running the Wendigo is close behind and slashing at Gators back and arms. Gator reaches the barn and runs inside, the Wendigo stops just at the door and sniffs, sensing a trap. Gator taunts the Wendigo, infuriating him. The Wendigo grabs the hood of the nearby old farm truck and rips it off, then hurls it towards gator in the shed and strikes him in the stomach and launching him through the back of the shed. The massive momentum of the throw causes the Wendigo to step into the shed. Connor sees this and fires a flare gun. The fumes from the gasoline are so dense now that the air is lighting on fire before the flare even strikes the shed floor. The shed instantly ignites into flame. Connie and Cal pull the door closed and Mina locks it up. Suddenly an explosion and the shed doors warp in front of the team. The Wendigo then pounds on the door and drives one of his long claws through the metal. Slowly the claw withdraws and flames shoot out in its place. Gator is found out the back of the shed unconscious and on fire. Carter kicks dirt on him to put him out.
Carter, Connie, and Cal run quickly into the woods to check on Marcus and Tony, Mina stays to help Gator. Cal reaches Marcus first and get him stabilized. Cal then turns to Tony and checks his pulse…he is dead. Carter and Connie drag both Marcus and Tony out of the woods and load them into the vehicles, while Cal runs to go get a bag. They all drive as fast as they can to a local vet clinic and break in to Cal can perform surgery on Marcus and Gator. Cal is successful, Marcus and Gator will be ok. Cal then moves to Tony and decides to go all Dr. Frankenstein on him. Cal believes he can bring him back to life but needs some things. Jumper cables, car battery, lots of ice, medications. Carter goes and obtains all these items and a few additional meds that could be useful in the future. Meanwhile in the corner Marcus is sitting in a corner muttering prayers in other languages. The plan is to put Tony in an ice bath, pump him full of some drug concoction, and then jump start his heart. Tony has lost a lot of blood so the team donates blood to him. Cal takes the blood bags and leaves the room. Later is it found that he did something to the blood while no one was around. The plan go on to play out. Shock….shock…..heart massage….shock…shock….heart massage…repeat. This goes on for a while. Nothing happens, flat line on the AED monitor. Then suddenly, a heartbeat…slow and erratic but a heartbeat. Tony is still unconscious but is seems that he is stable. The team cleans up the mess and heads back to the hotel to wait for tony to recover…or die…again….
Gator headed out to the woods to look for the survivors, he was only able to find one alive, he took him to the local ER and salted and burned the other two bodies.
